How to Fix Invalid Format on Hisense TV

You can follow the below solutions carefully to eliminate the Invalid Format issue on your Hisense Smart TV. These fixes can be used on any Hisense TV, including all models.

    Check the HDMI Cable

One of the main reasons for the Invalid Format problem is any damage or issues with the HDMI cables and their connections. In this scenario, make sure that the HDMI cable is tightly plugged into the necessary ports of your TV and the external device. It is important to use a HDMI cable without any damage for better results. If the issue is with the TV’s HDMI port, then make sure to switch to a different HDMI port.

    Change the HDMI cables

You can also try dusting the HDMI ports with a dry cloth to clear the accumulated dirt particles. Otherwise, use an air blower to remove the dust particles.

    Power Cycle Hisense TV

You can also restart your Hisense Smart TV and check whether the Invalid Format issue is getting fixed. As this will not delete any data and files from the TV, you can try this process at your basic level. So, unplug the power cable and leave the TV undisturbed for a few minutes. Once the excess power is discharged, plug back the power cable and power on the TV. Now, the Invalid Format error should be fixed if it has been raised due to a simple bug or a glitch.

    Change the Hisense TV Resolution

In some cases, when the TV’s resolution is selected wrongly, you might face the Invalid Format issue. In such cases, determine the correct TV format so that you can resolve the Invalid Format error from your Hisense TV. To enable this option, follow the below steps and change the resolution format of your desired smart TV.

Change the Hisense TV screen resolution to fix the Invalid Format error
    • Hisense Roku TV: Press the Home button → Launch the home screen → Navigate to Settings → Choose the Display Type option → The Default display type will be Automatic (4K) → Scroll down and manually select any Display Type.
    • Hisense Android/Google TV: Navigate to the Settings section → Hit the Display option → Select the Screen Resolution option → Disable Auto switch to best resolution → Hit Display → Scroll down to choose any resolution for your TV.
    • Hisense Fire TV: Launch the Fire TV home page → Press & hold the Rewind & Up button on the remote → Change the display resolution of your Hisense TV.

    Change the USB Drive Format

Another reason for the Invalid Format error is connecting a wrong USB flash drive that doesn’t support your TV format. In this situation, you need to format your USB flash drive from scratch and then change the USB format on Hisense TV using a PC. To do so,

    • Insert a USB flash drive into your PC’s USB port.
    • Choose Start/Windows icon/My Computer based on your PC model.
    • Navigate to the File Explorer and tap on This PC.
    • Then, right-click on your USB drive and select the Format option.
    • Here, you can see a list of formats under the File System option. Choose any format and check whether your Hisense TV is out of the issue.

Inspect the Set-Top Box & Restart It

A Hisense TV may display an Invalid Format error if the TV’s set-top box is set in the wrong HD format. So, tune your set-up box to an HD channel and then verify whether the output is set to the correct HD TV format. You can also try restarting your set-top box to fix the Invalid Format error.

    Hard Reset Hisense TV

As a last try, you can hard reset your Hisense TV and take the TV to its default settings. This will probably delete all the settings and file formats from the TV, thus clearing the Invalid Format issue. So, reset the TV and set up Hisense TV from the beginning to check whether the error has been fixed.
