How to Fix the Hisense TV Not Recognizing USB

The following are some quick remedies that will help you fix the Hisense not detecting USB drive issues. Ensure to follow them based on your TV problem and resolve it.

Examine the USB Port on Hisense TV

As a primary step, you need to check for any physical damage to the Hisense TV’s USB port. This is because if your Hisense TV USB port is damaged, your TV cannot detect the connected flash drive. So, check for any damage to the USB port, then detach the USB drive and insert it into another port of your desired TV. Also, make sure to clean the dust and debris particles inside the USB port using a dry soft cloth to prevent such issues.

Check the USB port on Hisense TV

Tip! If you can’t fix the damaged USB port yourself, contact the Hisense technical team or visit a nearby local shop to replace it.

    Replace the USB Flash Drive

If your Hisense TV’s USB port is in good condition and your TV still does not recognize the USB drive, you need to inspect the drive’s condition. Sometimes, the fault is with the USB flash drive, which causes the TV to function abnormally. So, purchase a new USB flash drive from Amazon and try plugging it into the USB port firmly without any gaps.

    Purchase a USB flash drive

To confirm whether the problem is with the USB drive or TV port, you can attach the USB drive to a different device to see if it works. If the USB drive works properly, then the problem is with your Hisense Smart TV.

    Check the USB File Format

Hisense TVs typically support only NTFS, FAT32, and FAT formats. So, if your USB drive is formatted with a different file system, your TV cannot recognize the connected USB flash drive. So, make sure to check and change the format on USB for Hisense TV using a Windows, Mac, or Linux.

Once done, you can access the formatted USB drive by adjusting the input on Hisense TV respectively. Finally, this will recognize the USB drive connected to your Hisense TV, and you can seamlessly access the files on the TV.

    Restart Hisense TV

If the connection and the USB format are good, there might be any software bugs or glitches on the TV preventing the USB drive from recognizing. So, it is recommended you restart your Hisense TV to get rid of the temporary bugs and and get the TV back to normal. Otherwise, you can even power cycle the smart TV to undergo the process. To do so,

Restart Hisense TV to fix the USB drive not recognizing issue
    • Unplug the power cable from the TV and the socket.
    • Leave the TV unplugged for 2-3 minutes.
    • Then, plug back the power cable into the necessary ports and turn on your Hisense TV. Now, check your TV to ensure it can recognize the connected USB drive without any struggles.

    Update the Hisense TV Firmware

Your Hisense TV might not recognize the connected USB flash drive if the TV is running on outdated software. Moreover, keeping the TV software updated to the latest version is important to prevent the TV from recognizing the USB flash drive. So, connect the TV to a proper WiFi network and update the Hisense TV firmware to its latest version.

By doing so, the TV will restart automatically. After that, insert the USB drive and check whether your Hisense TV is recognizing it or not.

    Reset Hisense TV

If nothing seems to work effectively, then you can try the powerful solution as your last try. Take your Hisense TV to its factory settings to delete all the files, data, and customized settings from the TV. After that, setup the Hisense TV from the beginning and connect the USB drive to your desired TV. Now, your TV should work properly without any issues.
